4 Ways To Boost Your Metoblism

It’s not unusual to hear the words “I Put On Weight So Easily, I Have A Slow Metabolism” But what is our metabolism and is it responsible for weight gain?

A persons Metoblism describes all the chemical processes that go on continuously inside the body to keep you alive and to keep the organs functionally normally

So, do some of us have a faster metabolism than others? The answer is Yes. The speed of metobolism depends on a variety of factors, Your body size, age, gender and genes all play a role.

Unfortunately, as we age we also tend to gain fat and lose muscle. But there are some ways to help speed up the rate at which your body processes calories.

Here are 3 effective ways to boost your metabolism, post 40

EXERCISE

As you get older your resting metoblic rate drops, but exercise can help to lift it back up. Try to make exercise part of your daily routine. Is one of the most effective ways to burn calories and boost your metoblism. It could include power walking, cycling, a fitness class or an at home workout

Or why not try to rev up your workouts (and your metabolism) with some interval training. These can easily be incorporated into your workouts

DRINK UP

Research has suggested that drinking more water may temporarily speed up your metabolism ( it does need to be cold though) plus water helps to fill you up

The body needs water to process calories. If you’re even mildly dehydrated our metabolism may slow down.

Try throwing a few cups of green tea into your daily routine. The catechin in green tea has the ability to increase your metabolic function.

BUILD MUSCLE

Your body constantly burns calories, even when you’re doing nothing. However, The resting metabolic rate is much higher in people with more muscle.

Increasing your strength training activates your muscles raising your average daily metabolic rate.

Try to incorporate exercises that use resistance bands, light weights into your workouts.

POWER UP YOUR PROTEIN

When you’re trying to boost your metoblism, eating more protein and healthy fats might sound a little scary, but its the type of foods you eat that count.

Your body burns many more calories digesting protein than it does actually eating fat or carbs. As part of a balanced diet, lean protein can help boost your metabolism at mealtimes. Healthy fats such as avocados, nuts and olive oil are great
